Connect the Dots...

Planning is often just guessing disguised as something more scientific. But when everything around you is changing you can’t afford to stand still. Luckily at Brainspin we are always looking ahead.  It’s up to you to keep your finger on the pulse. We just make it that much easier to find.

The next step and the Holy Grail

Today we have Siri, Cortana, and gestures in the air. There's even been a system to read eyeball movements for some considerable time.

People are working on the next step...reading our thoughts. Electrical impulses on the surface of the brain are very small and often hard to interpret. Each person's brain has evolved slightly differently. So it makes the signals more complicated to decode. But we will get there.

Until now we've had to learn new languages or logic to phrase any actions. On Apple or Kinect devices there is a right way and a wrong way of expressing our needs. At Brainspin we expect that in the early days of thought control we'll also have to think in a particular way. The problem will be compounded by the different family of native languages which express the same concept in very different ways.

The following step will be interpreting a stream of thought commands in any language. However, the Holy Grail will be anticipating our thoughts before we even consciously think them. That is fine for mundane situations. The work done by Prof. Kahneman's work will help with this. However, Dan Ariely has shown that human behaviour can also be very unpredictable. There is still a lot to learn about how we make non-habitual decisions. This has huge implications for the human machine interface as well as our race and laws going forward.
